The Haig Shield and Signes Shield

International Rugby Sevens Lineal World Titles

The names of the shields are in honour of the people who made rugby sevens a reality. For the men, this is Ned Haig, a butcher from Melrose, Scotland, who created the first ever sevens game, in 1883. For the womens, this is Emil Signes, who's work promoting womens rugby led to the hosting of the first womens sevens tournament in Hong Kong in 1997.

The data on this site is a work in progress. Currently the data stretches back to 2016 where the data for sevens became easily available. If you want to help us go back further please get in touch!
